About Me
I'm a machine learning engineer at OpenMind in San Francisco. I work on perception for robots that operate outside the lab: recognizing people and hazards, fusing camera and LiDAR data, and running models within the latency and memory limits of edge hardware.
My current interests are spatial intelligence — turning raw sensor data into 3D maps that know what each object is and whether it will still be there tomorrow — and efficient on-device models, from compressed LLMs to small vision-language-action policies.
Before OpenMind I worked on image analysis at Apple, built anomaly detection for laser sensors at Coherent, and deployed real-time detectors on NVIDIA Jetson devices. I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon (M.S.) and Computer Science at The Ohio State University (B.S., cum laude).
Outside work I like to explore on weekends. The photo above is me stacking lava rocks on the beach — careful balancing, a lot like getting robots to work in the real world. You'll find more trips under Life.
